The community of Bački Petrovac is situated in the south Bačka and covers the area of 158 km2. It is situated between the communities Novi Sad, Bačka Palanka, Vrbas and Beočin in Srem.
The Danube river divides it from Srem. There are this settlements in the community: Bački Petrovac, Gložan, Maglić and Kulpin. The settlement Petrovac owns part of the navigable channel Dunav – Tisa – Dunav.
All the settlements in this community are connected with the asphalt roads on the distance of 4 to 10 km. The local road system of the community Bački Petrovac is connected to the most important roads, the regional highway R – 102 to Hungary, on highway E -75 Subotica – Novi Sad – Belgrade.
The community of Bački Petrovac is one of the smallest communities when population is concerned, and according to the register in 2011. there are 13.302 inhabitants.
The main characteristic of this community is multi nationality. In Bački Petrovac and Gložan live Slovaks, in Kulpin Slovaks and Serbs while Maglić is completely Serb settlement.
